Needy Basket of Southern Miami County, Ohio
In accordance with its charter, Needy Basket was founded in 1946 to provide food and other assistance to families in Tipp City, Monroe and Bethel Townships in Miami County, Ohio.  It has been a mainstay of the community ever since. As the community grew so has the demands on Needy Basket. Requests for food have increased from 522 in 2009 to 1,617 in 2017.

Needy Basket must depend on both food and monetary contributions to be successful, and the community has always provided overwhelming support in our efforts to assist families in need. It comes from individuals, schools, churches, local businesses, both large and small organizations, to numerous to mention individually. Also, the Tipp City Area United Way has been a strong supporter of our efforts. Support is also provided by local foundations including  the Tipp City Area Community Foundations, the Paul G. Duke Foundation, the A. O. Smith Foundation, the Tom and Helen Kyle Fund, the Troy Foundation, the Thrivent Financial Choice Program, and the Miami County Foundation as well as many individual grants. Monetary contributions are used primarily for food purchases. All donations are tax-deductible.
Needy Basket maintains a food storage and distribution facility at the rear of 330 South Fifth Street in Tipp City, Ohio
Operating hours for families needing assistance are:
Monday -- 10:00 a.m. to Noon
Wednesday -- 10:00 a.m. to Noon and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Friday -- 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Any resident in our service area (Tipp City, Monroe or Bethel Townships) may apply for help if he/she can show proof of residence in our service area and certify that their total household income is less than the poverty level for a household of their size, as shown on the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Federal and State funded food programs eligibility to take food home form (JFS 04221) published in July of each year.
