Hello! This is the Needy Basket report for December, 2018. Last month, the Needy Basket provided food to 122 families in our local service area. This included 121 children, 70 senior citizens, and 201 adults. We also received 5,091 lbs of donated food items. That's a lot of food! Individuals donated 140 lbs, churches donated 595 lbs, and businesses and organizations donated  4,314 lbs. Thrivent Financial (through Matt Buehrer's Ohio State tailgate party in Hathaway Park) led the way with 1,663 lbs of food and over $300 in cash! The Hathaway neighborhood donated 618 lbs with the neighborhoods of Hampton Woods, Spring Hill, and Roslyn close behind. In addition, folks were able to watch the Ohio State football game on a big screen TV inside a dry tent! Thanks Matt and thanks to all for your continuing generosity!

In other news, the Needy Basket Holiday Program was successfully completed on the 15th of December. Thanks to all of the folks who donated gifts and food, and to the volunteers who processed applications, packed food and gift boxes, and delivered everything (even in the rain) on Saturday! I'll have more details in next month's report.

Next, we've been busy collecting food donations from Bethel Middle and High Schools and Tipp City's Broadway, LT Ball, and Nevin Coppock schools and from local businesses hosting our red food donation barrels. Of course schools will soon be closed for the holidays and folks will still be shopping, so if you see a red barrel, a donation canister, or kettle bell ringer around town, think about a last minute donation. Donations add up quickly and make a big impact! And as always, thank you for your support! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
