Hello! This is the Needy Basket report for February 2019. Last month was relatively quiet after the Christmas holidays. Of course, the snow and cold weather may have had something to do with that too. During January, the Needy Basket provided and distributed about 23,000 lbs of food and related household items to 102 families including 109 children, 58 senior citizens, and 144 adults.

Also during December, we received over 4,200 lbs of donated food. Of that, Meijer employees donated over 3,100 lbs! That's a lot of food! In addition, individuals donated about 200 lbs, local churches about 77 lbs, and other businesses donated about 850 lbs of food. Our volunteers spent days inspecting the donated products, checking “use by” dates, and stocking pantry shelves. Thanks to all!

Finally, if you happen to stop at Menard's next month, don't be surprised if you are asked about donating some food items at the checkout counter. Menard's is holding their annual food drive throughout March and needy citizens in our local community are the beneficiaries. So, if you can, please donate to help the folks who need food assistance this winter. It'll warm your heart! Thank you!
