Hello! This is the Needy Basket report for November 2018. Last month, the Needy Basket provided food to 126 families in our local service area. This included 114 children, 68 senior citizens, and 204 adults. We also received 1,004 lbs of donated food items. Individuals donated 154 lbs, schools and churches donated 93 lbs, and businesses and organizations donated 756 lbs. The Flying J in Vandalia and Tipp City's own FoodTown led the way. Thanks to all for your continuing generosity!

In other news, Thrivent Financial is hosting a big Ohio State vs. Michigan food drive and tailgate party on Saturday, November 24th. T o participate, just bring a bag of non-perishable food items or a $10 donation to Hathaway Village Park at 430 Hathaway Trail in Tipp City. Donations can be dropped off starting at 8 AM with pre-game activities starting at 10 AM. Game time is noon. Stay and watch the game on TV, enjoy live music and play games too! Your donations benefit the Needy Basket, so thank you very much in advance.

The Needy Basket is preparing for its annual Holiday Program! Applications are available online at www.needybasket.org and at 330 S. Fifth Street in Tipp City. Applicants must meet the income levels identified on the form. In addition, Tipp City's Broadway, LT Ball, and Nevin Coppock Schools and Bethels Middle and High Schools will soon be collecting holiday food donations. Finally, you have probably seen Needy Basket half-barrels and small donation canisters at business locations around the city. A few cans of vegetables and some pocket change don't sound like much, but with good support, it adds up quickly and makes a big impact! Again, thank you in advance for your support!

Finally, the Needy Basket can now accept financial donations online! We are partnering with the Paul G. Duke Foundation and the Columbus Foundation's The Giving Store. To donate online click on the Opportunities to Donate Tab. Then click on the Columbus Foundation Logo.  We're just one of many deserving charities you can support in Miami County, but we would certainly appreciate your gift. Of course, checks and currency can always be donated by mail or by just stopping by. That's it for now and, as always, a big thank you to the generous folks in our community for helping others in need!
